Discover a new way to play VR Battle Royale with the 3dRudder
Stand Out VR: Battle Royale is quite a self-explanatory game’s name. Stand Out VR: Battle Royale could be described as a classical of the online FPS genre but in Virtual Reality. Though it’s still in early access, it works pretty well considering the wide size of the map and fair variety of games you can play. We played it with the 3dRudder to move and the ProTubeVR rifle stock to shoot.
Without the 3dRudder
Stand Out VR: Battle Royale is available on Steam VR in early access and compatible with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality. Not unexpectedly, Stand Out VR Battle Royale is originally designed to be played standing, and as you probably don’t have 400 hectares of room-scale space available at home, you move in the game with your hands (unless… well, we’ll see that later) using the pad or joystick of the tracked motion controllers. And you also shoot in the game with your hands (that makes more sense) by pulling the triggers of the hand controllers.
With the 3dRudder
We played Stand Out VR: Battle Royale with the 3dRudder foot-operated motion controller. Stand Out VR: Battle Royale offers native free locomotion so that we just had to map the hand controllers to transfer motion management to the 3dRudder (our configuration is available in the 3dRudder Dashboard - see next section for set up instructions).
So we played this VR FPS using the 3dRudder as a motion controller and we were able to move everywhere we wanted to with surprising agility. As our hands were totally freed up from motion management, we seized the opportunity to try out the ProTube VR rifle stock (yep, there are some 2 handed guns in Stand Out VR: Battle Royale), and it was pretty cool. You’d be surprised how fun it can be to play a VR FPS seated. Well you just need to watch the video to see how immersive it is.
