Without the 3dRudder

Dead Effect 2 VR is the VR version of the famous franchise Dead Effect that sold million of copies within the last few years. Dead Effect 2 VR could be described as both a RPG and FPS. I can hear you think: OK, another FPS in VR, so what? Well, to start with, it has all the ingredients of a good recipe: (1) you are on your own and THEY (whomever they are) want you dead, (2) they sent fierce fighters to terminate you and the situation looks desperate, (3) you have superpowers and specific skills others don’t, and YES, you can make it. On top of the classical gameplay, we have to say the story, graphics and well-thought features make it worth its ranking in the Top VR Games. And you want to hear the good news? Well read further...

With the 3dRudder

So now, you're probably going to ask, what difference does the 3dRudder make in Dead Effect 2 VR?
Well, first you can enjoy free locomotion, and that includes smooth free rotation, which is a must-have to feel fully immersed in a VR game. Second, controls are surprisingly easy to learn. As a reminder, the 3dRudder is a foot-operated controller, meaning you control motion with your feet on the board: when you want to walk forward in the game, you tilt the 3dRudder forward, when you want to turn around, you just need to rotate the 3dRudder, and so on. Third, it frees up your hands for all kind of typical FPS action such as interacting, grabbing guns and firing.
And the good news is, Dead Effect 2 VR now offers native support for the 3dRudder. The beauty of it is there's nothing you need to do to get started besides connecting your 3dRudder to your computer: the game will automatically enable the 3dRudder as motion controller and offer a dedicated control panel should you want to customize the settings.

How to set it up?

Dead Effect 2 VR natively supports the 3dRudder. Once the 3dRudder is plugged in your computer, it is automatically enabled as a motion controller in the game, and you don't need to go through the 3dRudder Dashboard. Note that hand controllers remain active for all hand-driven tasks.

Playing with HTC Vive or Oculus Rift:
- Launch Dead Effect 2 VR via Steam VR. Accept installation of updates to make sure you have the latest version of the game.
- Put your feet on the 3dRudder, stay still for half a second until you hear the calibration Beep, and start tilting the 3dRudder the way you want to go to in the game.
That's it!

You want to customize the settings?
- Menu "Calibration VR": should you want to adjust the height of your character in the game, you can change the settings from this menu by modifying one of the 3 criteria (size of the world, height, floor height)

- Menu "3dRudder settings": this dedicated control panel lets you adjust both deadzone and sensitivity for each of the 4 axes (forward/backward, left/right, rotation, up/down = crouch)
