Virtual reality was one of the big themes at this year’s CES, and one of the coolest products we saw was 3D Rudder, a foot-based motion controller.
The circular board comes with six sensors – a gyroscope, accelerometer and four pressure sensors – providing hands-free control through 3D environments by letting you navigate simply by moving your feet. Tilting forward, for example, moves you through the 3D world, while spinning your feet around captures a 360-degree view of the environment.
The team showed off the 3DRudder board in action by hooking it up to an Oculus Rift. We tried it out but soon regretted it when we found ourselves stumbling around the CES showroom floor, unable to focus on anything another than not throwing up.
